Things have been just a hopping here. Sure isn’t a dull moment here lately.
I had thought that when Elijah was done with all of his camps we would sit back, put our feet up and just hang out for the last few weeks of summer break. HA! I was so wrong!
After his last camp he had a local school camp, Camp Inventions. They take apart old electronicsand create new inventions. He had a blast. I now have a "VI Fixer" sitting in my living room. The thing is huge. I have a huge sculpture in my garage and two brown bags of extra pieces. Personally, I think the camp should be called, "From our house to yours". He took in a broken VCR and now I have all this. UGH!!
Elijah had soccer season. Well, actually he missed half of soccer season, because of camps. They did allow him to join and he got to play in the final six games. He was happy to still be able to play. Our only frustration was they put him on the team that didn’t have any kids from his school. This seems to happen every other year. We live in a different school district than he attends and they put him with the school we live by. Even though I mention he attends a different one. He makes new friends, but would still like to be with his school friends.
Next is football. Unfortunately all the games are held on Saturday mornings, so I won’t be able to attend. Or maybe that’s a good thing, I probably will be so worried about him getting hurt. I’m told he could play a front line defense position and his vision shouldn’t interfere any. (Yep-you guessed it…I know "beans" about football.)
He’s somewhat looking forward to school starting. We have all his stuff already. Which is good fr me, usually I am last minute. WAIT!- We need to get a box of Ziploc bags yet. He gets a few more shirt yet too.
Andrew just had his 17th birthday on the 13th. Had a nice supper together and then he partied with his friends. He just got hired at the Hollister at our local mall. He’s excited to start. (I’m excited about the discount he gets.) He worked for his dad over the summer doing construction work.
His dad bought him a motorcycle. It’s a 1979 Honda. Andrew calls it his "Jesus-mobile" because "it’s so old Jesus drove it." It was an awesome deal, $300, no rust, and only 500 miles! PooWee thinks that every motorcylce we approach is "A-Doo"! He gets all excited points and says, "A-DOO!! A-DO DO!!" And of course is furious when I don’t follow them.
PooWee is such a crazy character. We are all having so much fun with him. He absolutely loves going downtown to the square every Wednesday to listen to the band. He dances some, but mostly walks around waving at everybody. He definitely has got the flirting thing down.
He also loves dogs. He will take off at the speed of light to a dog. He stops and watches them for sometime then sits to watch them and them will pet after he decides all is OK. Its quite cute.
Soccer games for him were quite challenging for me. He thought he could go out into the field and play too. Needless to say I was luck if I got a full two minutes of sitting and watching the game. Most of the time I was playing with him and turning my head 360 degrees to catch Eli. I do have to say that at the last game he finally figured out that it was fun to watch too. He sat for an entire half. Hopefully he’ll remember this still with the first game next year.
Chad has been working, visiting his baby girl and hanging with friends. He went to summer school for a few weeks and did well in that. Which got him excepted into the alternative high school for fall. He’ll go to school for only a half a day. This will allow him more time to work and be a father. He will still receive the a high school diploma and graduate with his class.
Me-obviously, the boys have kept me going. But I have managed to scrub Elijah’s room, the living room and the kitchen from ceiling to floor. My room is next. I’m half tempted to switch rooms with Andrew and Chad. My room is much bigger which is why I am holding back. Not sure if all PooWee and my stuff will work out in their room. Don’t tell Andrew and Chad this or FOR SURE I will be switching.
I finished kntting my purse. Just need to piece it all together. I’m dreading that part. My liner is cut out, but also needs to be pieced together. Any volunteers?!
Am I ready for school to start? Not really. I wish I were still homeschooling. I miss it so much. I just absolutely love having my boys home. I’m saddened that this is Andrew’s senior year. My baby is really becoming a man! (I’m too young!)
Although, I am so excited about the services Elijah will be receiving this year. I hope he thrives and does well. I’m praying we don’t have a period of depression with him again. I think he’s starting to learn to live with is blindness and just keep truckin on.
Speaking of Elijah’s blindness…got some news I’m so excited about. My stepmother gave me some money from father’s house and I’m spending it!!! We have a bunch of visual aids on order for Elijah. For the past year and a half I have been emailing, writting letters, and making phones to try and get funding to help purchase some of these needs of his and have gotten NO WHERE. I usually get.."I’ll take the request to our next meeting" and hear NOTHING, or "I’llseewhat I can do." and get nothing, or "Let me call you back" and…YEP! hear NOTHING! Now that I have some money…I’m spending it on him. Of course there’s more that I’d like to get him, but we are off to good start. Boy is this stuff expensive!
Andrew was so precious when I told him about the money I got. He said, "That’s your money! Spend it on yourself or save it, but don’t spend it on Elijah, PooWee or I. It’s yours!" (He knows me well!) I explained wanting to get Elijah visual aids and he agreed. The money has sure made preparing for this school year less stressful too. I did buy myself a new pair of jeans! They were on sale for $8, couldn’t pass them up! I am SOOO CLOSE to buying a dishwasher though. Oh man am I close.
Our biggest highlight this past month was Kelly. Kelly is my neice who lives in Arizonia, she came up to visit for three weeks. We had alot of fun and I plan on sharing our adventures in another post. Which I do hope to finish writing this week.
As for this post, it must end as I need to catch some ZZZZs! Nite all!
